Kalamazoo, MI Passed away Tuesday morning October 6, 2009 at her son's home in Paw Paw with her family at her side. Carolyn was born June 9, 1936 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a daughter of Jack and Ruth Coble Southall. She had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with the Shakespeare Company for 20 years and E.P.C. Company for 10 years before retiring. Carolyn was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church. She also was an avid supporter of the Kalamazoo County Humane Society and the World Wildlife Federation. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; and 2 sisters, Jackie Tripp and Linda Tandler. She is survived by 3 children, Trina Stephen Dillard of Woodbridge, VA, Kelly Renee Dykstra Bennett of Paw Paw, and Billy Barbara Bennett of Kalamazoo; 4 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Norma Dozeman of Kalamazoo and Diana Cronk of New Port Richey, FL; a brother, Jack Southall of Bloomingdale, MI; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 2 o'clock Saturday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Private burial will take place at a later date.
