Carol Whitcomb

Carol Whitcomb passed away on July 30, 2024 in Petoskey, MI.

She was born on December 9, 1960 in Detroit, MI daughter of Irene and Oscar Carr.

Carol graduated from Fraser High School in Fraser, MI 1979 and later received a Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene from the University of Michigan in 1983.

In 1986 Carol married the love of her life Dr. Reginald Whitcomb at a lakeside wedding in Portage, MI.

Carol worked side by side with her husband Reg for 35 years building Petoskey Dental Associates, with Carol at the helm. After a successful career they sold the practice in 2020 to enjoy retirement. She loved the time she spent in Cape Coral from 2004-2018. Carol enjoyed exploring the country hiking, biking and skiing as they traveled in their van. Carol was also known as the party queen. She loved planning and throwing parties for family and friends.

Fitness and well-being were a part of Carol’s lifestyle. She could be found running marathons, downhill skiing all across the US, working out at the gym or most recently the new found passion of mountain biking. The love and connection with outdoors and wonderful friendships that she formed made Marquette, MI her very special place.

Carol’s memory will be honored and cherished by her surviving family, including her husband Reg; her mother Irene Carr; sisters Candy and Cindy; brothers John, Andrew, and Matt; and step-mother Amy. She is preceded in death by her father Oscar Carr.

A gathering to honor her memory and celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday August 6, 2024 from 4-7pm at Stone Funeral Home (2098 E. Mitchell Rd, Petoskey, MI 49770).

There will be a celebration gathering for friends in Marquette in August (date to be determined).

The family will gather for burial rights at a private ceremony at a future date in Portage, MI.

Carol was a dog lover – mother to Drew, Rusty, Rudy and the newest yellow lab named Blu. In lieu of flowers, donations can made in honor of Carol’s love of animals, to the Little Traverse Bay Humane Society (ltbhs.com)
