SINGLETON, Carol Ann
of Mattawan, Michigan Carol passed away Tuesday evening at her home surrounded by her family on August 14, 2012 at the age of 67. Carol was born December 6, 1944 in Norfolk, VA to the late Harvey and Evelyn Pallette Ginn and raised by her father and stepmother, Mevelyn Ginn. In September of 1961, she met her future husband of 50 years, Jim. It was love at first sight for him however; this was not the case for her. After catching her at a weak moment, he was able to win her over and on December 31, 1961 they were united in marriage in South Mills, NC. Carol was an active member of the New Apostolic Church where she was infamous for her southern cooking skills. Surviving Carol are her husband, James Singleton; children, James Bill Singleton of Vero Beach, FL, Keith Lisa Singleton of Paw Paw, Donna Zawacke of Mattawan and Sherry Kathy Singleton of Mattawan; 5 grandchildren who she treasured and adored, Christy Andrew Kincaid, Kimberly Singleton, Sean Stanfill, Savannah Zawacke and Sydney Zawacke; sisters, Hester Falzarano, Janet Cook and Martha Huff; step-mother, Mevelyn Ginn; and several nieces and nephews. Also preceding Carol in death was a son, Gary Singleton; and brother, Michael Ginn. A memorial service will take place Saturday, 2:00 o'clock at the New Apostolic Church, 2601 Kalarama, Portage, Rev. Peter Cook officiating. Family will greet friends on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Southwest Michigan.
