SCHOLTEN, Carol Ann
Kalamazoo, Michigan Carol Ann Scholten, age 68, was unexpectedly called home to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday morning, January 23, 2013. She was born on July 14, 1944 in Kalamazoo, MI a daughter of the late Isaac and Nellie Goldschmeding Kiewiet and had been a lifelong area resident. While attending Kalamazoo Christian High School, Carol met the love of her life, Duane Scholten of Comstock, MI. Carol and Duane were united in marriage on November 20, 1964. Carol worked with her husband at Scholten Kitchen and Bath until her retirement. She found her calling in life as being an encourager and prayer warrior. She loved sending cards and notes, making phone calls and visits to lift others up. Carol and Duane attended Calvary Bible Church. Carol lived the true purpose driven life, never missing the opportunity to spend time with the ones she loved. She was a loving wife of 48 years, an exceptional mother and a true friend to everyone she met. Carol is survived by: her husband Duane Scholten; three children and their spouses, Dan Krystin Scholten, Laura John Beck and Mark Michelle Scholten all of Kalamazoo; nine grandchildren, Bethany, Christian, Emily, Christian, Joshua, Nellie, Julia, Grace and Clare; a sister and two brothers, Nancy Dave Willemstein, Rev. David Jan Kiewiet and Paul April Kiewiet; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather for visitation on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Services will be held 11:00 Saturday morning at Calvary Bible Church, 855 S. Drake Road, with Rev Dr. John Barnett, officiating. Private interment in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorials should be directed to Calvary Bible Church - Mission Fund or to Park Village Pines.
