Kalamazoo Passed away Friday, March 16, 2012 in Kalamazoo. She was born March 28, 1915 in Buchanan, MI. the daughter of Kenneth and Lutie Camfield Holmes and had lived in Kalamazoo since 1929. On October 25, 1935, she married Henry J. Schaberg, who preceded her in death on June 14, 1997. She was also preceded by her sister, Lou Hoag and her brother, Edward Holmes. Carol was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kalamazoo, where she was active in the Women's Society and a Co-sponsor of the Kappa Phi Sorority at Western Michigan University. She was a member of the Ladies Library Association and served as the President for 2 years. She was a member of the Women's Republican Party in Kalamazoo, where she served as the treasurer. She drove for Meals On Wheels for 10 years and was associated with the YWCA and served as the Vice-president of Personnel. She served as the Chairperson of the March of Dimes for several years, was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and was a member of the Oakwood PTA, where she served as the President for one year. In her spare time, she loved music, played the piano and the organ and sang in many choirs. One of her many hobbies was collecting antiques. Carol is survived by her sons, Thomas Gerry Schaberg of Portage and David Annette Schaberg of Ripon, WI; grandchildren, Robyn George Mockus of Ripon, WI, Tracy John Porter of Santa Ynez, CA, Dan Tara Schaberg of Los Angeles, CA, Beth Mark Hendrickson of Portage, Heidi Doug Fooy of Parchment and Jeff Mary Schaberg of Houston, TX; 16 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and one niece. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Loaves & Fishes or the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
