of Portage Passed away Monday morning, October 10, 2011 at her residence. Carol was born March 29, 1939 in Eau Claire, WI to the late Orville and Emily Thomas Larson. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church where she was very involved in various activities. Carol was a great cook who enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. On August 20, 1960 she was united in marriage to her loving husband, Gerry Nelson, who survives. Also surviving are her 3 boys, Jeffery Nelson, James Leslie Nelson, David Joann Nelson; 5 grandchildren, Jack, Tyler, Cody, Justin, and Jakob; a brother, Orville Jr. Ginny Larson; and 7 nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Carol's life will be held at 12:00 o'clock Monday at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1747 W. Milham, with Pastor Paul Nuechterlein officiating. Friends may meet the family Sunday from 4-7pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre and from 11-12pm Monday at the church. A luncheon will immediately follow the service and interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, West Michigan Cancer Center, or Borgess Visiting Nurse and Hospice Services.
