Carol J. Leathers

LEATHERS, Carol J. Of Portage Passed away Saturday morning, February 3, 2007 at her residence. Carol was born March 4, 1913 in Lynchburg, OH the daughter of Clarence and Marie Doggett. She was a homemaker and enjoyed doing volunteer work in many capacities with the Red Cross. Carol was a lifetime member of the Portage Senior Center where she made many friends and enjoyed helping with various activities. She was also a member of the Portage First United Methodist Church. Carol especially enjoyed spending time with her family at the lake; along with watching and feeding her birds, bowling, and yard work. On January 9, 1937 she was united in marriage to Chester Leathers, who preceded her in death on October 26, 1978. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Christine O?Connors; and a brother, Bob Doggett. Surviving are 2 children, Dennis Rolene Leathers of Kalamazoo, Sue Leathers of Portage; 2 grandchildren, Marilee Cekola, Melonie Brad Schmitz; 5 great-grandchildren; and a niece, Carol Ann O?Connors. Services will be held 1:00 o?clock Thursday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre. Interment will follow in South Portage Cemetery. Friends may meet the family Wednesday evening from 6-8pm at the Portage Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the Portage Senior Center or the Portage First United Methodist Church.
