Carl, born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on August 22, 1927, son of the late Peter and Flossie (Moden) Walters, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at the age of 97. Carl served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps during WWII and retired from the Upjohn Company after 36 years of dedicated service. Carl was an extremely caring and generous man, always willing to lend a hand. A self-taught home electrician, plumber and all-around handyman, Carl was once called "an engineer without the degree". Carl was a devoted family man and cherished spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He especially loved cooking breakfast during family camping trips. Alongside his brothers, Carl was a long-time proud member of the Kalamazoo Rod & Gun Club, serving on the board of directors. A member of the North South Skirmish Association, he enjoyed competitive shooting and was considered an expert shot. Carl enjoyed the latest technology, keeping current with the latest Apple iPhone watches and iPhones. On February 26, 1949, he married the former Martha Williams, who preceded him in death on December 7, 2019. Besides his parents, Martha and sister, Pauline, Carl was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald (Evelyn) and Ronald (Nellie) Walters. He is survived by seven children, Ruth (Gary) Dare, Susan (Ken) Kuchenreuther, Jane (Steve) Dimmick, Brian (Steve Hodges) Walters, Kelly (Craig) Ackerson, Jim (Karen Garfield-Walters) Walters and Donna (Dave) Schuring; 19 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will he held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park - South. Memorial contributions may be made to Centrica Care Navigators.
