MELCHING, Mr. Carl W.
Mendon, MI Died Tuesday evening December 4, 2012 in Three Rivers, Michigan. Carl was born February 10, 1930 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a son of Leland and Hazel Miller Melching. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1949 and was called back to serve during the Korean War. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with Bouma-Betton Contracting for over 30 years, retiring in 1988. Carl was also a lifelong Member of the Carpenters Union Local #525. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mark Melching in 1981; a granddaughter, Amber Melching in 2011; and his five siblings. On August 17, 1958, he was united in marriage to Darlene M. Carlson Melching who survives. Also surviving, 3 children, Brian Melching and Karl Melching both of Mendon, and Leslie Tim Kudary of Vicksburg. His 8 grandchildren, whom he loved deeply; Mike, Courtney and Mark Melching, Cooper, Caleb and Carlie Kudary, Brooke Leonard and Brad VandenAkker. He was also a "Favorite Uncle" to several nieces and nephews. In accordance with his wishes, friends may join the family for a light lunch from 1-3pm Wednesday, December 12th at the Vicksburg United Methodist Church, 217 S. Main Street. Private burial will be in Genesee Prairie Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Generous Hands, Inc. of Vicksburg.
