FRY, Carl A., Sr.
Galesburg, Michigan Loving husband, dad, grandpa and brother, Carl passed away Sunday, July 13, 2008 with his family by his side. He was born January 31, 1935 in Battle Creek, a son of Fred and Mildred Sawyer Fry and had lived in the Galesburg area for many years. Carl graduated from W. K. Kellogg High School and served his country in the United States Navy. He was a machinist and worked for several paper companies and the Clark Equipment Company. He was a very quiet and unassuming man who never bragged unless it was about his family or friends. He loved spending time with his family and Lincoln, a family pet. He loved watching the birds and gardening. Eight years ago he rode his bicycle from coast to coast with a group of special riders and got his nickname, 10K Carl. He was a subtle but powerful man who was self taught in math and problem solving. On March 6, 1954, he married his sweetheart, Eleanor J. Welling and they recently celebrated 54 years of marriage. Carl is also survived by their children, Carol Don Brelowski of Niles, Carl Fry, Jr. Denise Webber of St. Helen, MI, Sue Allen Brewer of Wayland, Ann Fry of Augusta and Kathy Jerry Hadaway of Paw Paw; 6 grandchildren, Eric, Tracy, Emily, Sarah, Jesse and Julia; a sister, Judy Gordon Hart of Bellevue; 3 brothers, Jim Donna Fry of Battle Creek, Floyd Jean Fry of Richland and Dan Mary Fry of West Linn, OR; a brother-in-law, Dale Barbara Warren of Silver Springs, FL; an aunt, cousins, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy Warren. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 AM in St. Ann Catholic Church, 12648 East D Avenue with Rev. Fr. Christopher Derda, celebrant. Interment with full military honors will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek St. on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Kaylea A.
