MOORE, Burl R.
Mattawan Passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2010 in Kalamazoo. He was born July, 7 1929, in Grubbs, AR, a son of Harvey and Illah Shields Moore and was a resident of Kalamazoo for many years. He was a deputy on the Kalamazoo County Sheriff Department for 19 years, retiring in 1991. On September 22, 1950, he was united in marriage to Helen Frost, who preceded him in death on April 23, 1992. He was also preceded by his brothers and sisters, Helen Merritt, Ed Moore, Ruby Prince, Howard Moore, Flora Moore, Odeen Wymer and Merril Lassiter. He is survived by his sons, Ron Treasa Moore, and Terry Patricia Moore; 4 grandchildren, David, Laurie, Steve and Joe; 2 great-grandchildren, Jakub and Toby; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 o'clock at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street, with Pastor Jim Dyke officiating. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the West Michigan Cancer Center, 200 N.
