Brian W. Smith, age 49, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 20, 2018. He was born on March 22, 1969 to William and Donna (Case) Smith in Kalamazoo. Brian attended and graduated from Climax-Scotts High School and Ferris State University. His marriage to Karmyn Kinzle ended in divorce but blessed him with a precious daughter, Sara Marie Smith. Brian was an Eagle Scout, loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed looking for Petoskey stones with his daughter. He was a member of Climax United Methodist Church. Brian is survived by his daughter, Sara M. Smith; parents, Bill and Donna Smith; two sisters, Desiree (Roger) Graves and Tracy (Robert) Scherer; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A memorial visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday August 27th at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Climax Chapel, 205 East Maple Street where a memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. with Pastor Beverley Williams officiating. Light refreshments will be served following the service in the fellowship hall of Climax United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Climax United Methodist Church.
