Brian James Arra was born October 15, 1965, in Benton Harbor, the son of James and Beverly Shyne Arra; and passed away suddenly October 19, 2010, in Kalamazoo. He attended Mattawan High School and graduated from Libertyville High School in 1984. Brian was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Carl Vinson; and the Coast Guard Reserve. For many years Brian worked in the insurance industry, was licensed in Michigan as a property, casualty, life and health agent and in June of 2004, he and his wife Tracy founded The Arra Insurance Agency. Brian was an active member of Southridge Reformed Church, where he had served and volunteered in many capacities. He currently served on the board of directors for Southwest Michigan Professionals Network and has served on many professional and humanitarian organizations and boards throughout the years. Brian was passionate about family time, friends, hunting, fishing, helping people and was a mentor to people in his church and community. On March 25, 2000, he was united in marriage to the former Tracy Coleman. Surviving are his wife, Tracy Arra; children, Caroline "CJ" Arra, Benjamin Arra and Levi Arra all at home; his mother, Beverly David Evans of North Carolina; his father, James Sharon Arra of Arkansas; three brothers, David Arra of England, Paul Hillary Evans of New Jersey and Mark Linda Evans of Illinois; sister, Jennifer Aaron Snead of Portage; stepmother, Joy Arra of Portage; parents-in-law, Terry and Barbara Coleman of Portage; brother-in-law, David Tina Coleman of Minnesota and many other special family and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 22 from 6-8 PM at Southridge Reformed Church 6726 Texas Drive.A Memorial Service to celebrate Brian's life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday at Southridge Reformed Church with Pastor Phil Bubar officiating.
