Portage Brett passed away on Friday, March 18 at Bronson Medical Center. Brett was born October 19, 1961 in Anchorage, AK. His father was in the Air Force so Brett traveled all over the world with his family. He graduated from high school in 1979 in Upper Heyford, England. He received his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Louisiana Tech. University in 1984. On March 17, 1992 he enlisted in the army as an x-ray tech. He was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington where he received his training as an MRI tech. He was promoted to SGT and received an honorable discharge on Sept. 11, 1996. After leaving the Army, Brett made his home in Kalamazoo, MI. In 1996, Brett joined the team at K.N.I. where he worked as an M.R.I. Tech. Brett enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, cooking gumbo and jambalaya. Although he lived in Michigan, he was a Cajun at heart. Brett had a real gift of telling stories. Brett loved many things, but his main focus in life was his daughter Megan. She was his heart. They enjoyed movies, playing tennis and dressing up for the Renaissance Fairs. He was the happiest when he was with her.
It is without saying that he loved both daughters Megan and Angelle. He is loved by many and will be greatly missed. He was a great man, a loving father, brother, son and great friend. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 S. 9th St. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-8 PM.
