of Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away on Monday, February 4, 2013 at the age of 87. She was born in Kalamazoo on May 25, 1925, the daughter of the late Herman and Anna Gebben Vliem. She worked for The Upjohn Company for 43 years, retiring in June of 1987. She was a member of Westwood Church of God. She belonged to the 20th Century Club and enjoyed traveling. Surviving are her nephew, James Carolyn Vliem, Jr. of Visalia, CA; two nieces, Judith Simmons of Mesick, MI and Sue Vliem of Portage; eight great-nieces and great-nephews, Michael Vliem, Lori Mosier, Jeff Kym Vliem, Steve Mary Simmons, Mark Dawn Simmons, Brad Simmons, Sally Vliem and Debra Dan Braak; and several great-great-nieces and great-great nephews. She was preceded by her brother, James Vliem; two nephews, Richard Vliem and Bruce Simmons; and her great-nephew, Bobby Mosier. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., where the funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Thomas Tufts will officiate. Private interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Westwood Church of God.
