Of Portage, Michigan Passed away Saturday morning, December 13, 2008 at his residence. Billy was born June 18, 1928 in Kalamazoo the son of Angus and Maryon Carlysle Banks. He was a graduate of Portage Central High School and was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement he was a heavy equipment mechanic for AGA Gas Inc. Billy enjoyed carpentry, family camping trips, and traveling to Florida. On October 8, 1955 he was united in marriage to his loving wife of 53 years, the former Patricia Crimmins who survives. Also surviving are 4 sons, Christopher Banks of Portage, Kevin Banks of Tucson, AZ, Patrick Marjorie Banks of Portage, Timothy Banks of Mattawan; 3 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Billy was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Banks. There will be no visitation. A memorial mass to celebrate Billy's life will be held 10:30AM Saturday, December 20, at St. Catherine of Siena, 1150 W. Centre, with Fr. Kevin Covert, Celebrant. Private interment will be in South Portage Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Borgess Visiting Nurse and Hospice Services, or St. Catherine of Siena. Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre.
