Billie Jo Longenecker, 70 of Vicksburg, was reunited with her beloved husband in the presence of their Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Centrica Rose Arbor Place. She was born on September 22, 1954, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Willie and Josephine (Limpritch) Berry.
Billie graduated from Loy Norrix High School and briefly attended Davenport University. She worked several clerk jobs before finding her home at the Kalamazoo County Treasurer’s Office as a senior account clerk.
Billie was united in marriage with Gary Longenecker on April 26, 1975, and they were blessed with over 47 years of lasting love until Gary’s passing in 2022. They enjoyed camping with the family and taking trips to amusement parks including Cedar Point, 6 Flags, and Michigan’s Adventure. Billie always enjoyed these thrills and was proud to cross off a bucket list dream when she went skydiving for her 50th birthday.
Billie was a loving mother and worked hard to give her sons a loving and secure home. She was a devoted friend who could always be counted on. She had a special place in her heart for dogs and will be missed dearly by her yorkie-poo Tango.
Billie enjoyed live entertainment in any form. She and her dear friend Pam saw dozens of concerts together all over the country. Billie was a huge fan of Herman’s Hermits and was also proud to be a Noone-atic, a title received only by those in the Peter Noone Fan Club. She also enjoyed shows at Miller Auditorium and looked forward to events that she could help as an usher.
Billie was outspoken and bold, especially when it came to her family and her faith. Many would describe her as a good Christian, she and Gary attended church every Sunday and she would volunteer there as well.
Billie is survived by her sons Gary Keith (Meranda) Longenecker and Craig (Tammy) Longenecker, granddaughter Kaitlyn-Marie Longenecker, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Willie and Josephine, her beloved husband Gary, and her sisters Jill Berry and Lucinda Stratton.
