Bill D. Pruitt

January 14, 1942 — April 3, 2009

PRUITT, Bill D.
of Frostproof, FL
formerly of Kalamazoo Passed away Friday, April 3, 2009 at Florida Hospital in Orlando. He was born January 14, 1942 in Wichita, KS to the late Daniel and Eulayla White Pruitt. While on leave in the military, Bill was united in marriage, on December 26, 1959, to the former Harriett Groen, who survives. Bill served in the United States Navy from February of 1959 until honorably discharged in September of 1962. He became a police officer in 1964 and dedicated his entire life to protecting and serving American citizens. He retired from the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department in 1998. Twice, in the line of duty, Bill was decorated for acts of bravery; both incidents involved risking his own life to save a person from a fire. Bill loved fishing and hunting. He loved to occupy his off time with remodeling or car repair projects. He was an accomplished marksman and avidly spoke of rights and responsibilities of handling firearms. He received the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior in 1978, and his love and study of God's Word brought about many beautiful changes and growth in his life. He shared all the Lord revealed to him with all who would listen, especially eschatology. He and his wife Harriet took a trip to Israel and the Holy Lands in 1982 and this trip was the source of many favored memories. Also surviving Bill are his children, Linda James Mickel of Homosassa, FL, Bill Judy Pruitt, Jr., of San Antonio, TX, and Chad Alicia Pruitt of Chesapeake, VA; brother, Steven Shirley Pruitt of Pittsburg, KS; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren.
