Age 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 27, 2024.

Bev was born in Flint, Michigan on June 3, 1928, the daughter of the late Ira and Clara (Stoddard) Rickman.

On January 27, 1945, she married Leslie Hume, Jr., who preceded her in death on July 17, 2022. Bev and Leslie were devout Christians and active long-time members of Discovery Church (formerly United General Baptist Church). Together, they owned and operated Hume’s Jewelers and after retirement enjoyed traveling extensively. Bev also worked as an Avon representative. She was a great cook and loved taking care of her family.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter in-law, Sarah Hume and siblings, James Rickman, Shirley Greer, Paul Rickman and Charles Rickman.

Bev is survived by her children, Rick Hume, Sonya (Joe) Brower and Dennis Hume; grandchildren, Emily (Andy) Ready, Eric Hume, Jennifer McLeod, Jeremy Beznoska and Ambrosia (Jason) Baird; great-grandchildren, Rich, Margaret, Greg, John, Keegan, Jaeden, Cameryn, Addison, Jacob, James and Annabelle; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (Jerry) McFall; brother, Howard (Bobby) Rickman and sister in-law, Margie Rickman.

A funeral service will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 622 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo, MI 49007, on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Josh White officiating. Visitation will take place at the funeral home one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM. Private interment will be at East Cooper Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Discovery Church or Wings of Hope Hospice.
