of Portage
formerly of Angola, IN Passed away October 13, 2009 at her home with her family by her side. She was born September 25, 1949 in Xenia, IL to Lloyd and Minnie Wells Colclasure. Betty was united in marriage on April 24, 2004, to Michael E. Stanley, who survives. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Angola, IN. She and Mike had a great love for the art of ballroom dancing. She also enjoyed flower gardening and bike riding. Betty was also a long-time member of Business Professionals of Women, Angola, as well as the American Legion. She worked for the American Red Cross for many years and for a time, she was also with Hospice of Gallation in Summit County, TN. Also surviving Betty are, her son, William Reida Spitzner, Jr.; grandchildren, Hanna and Malachi Spitzner; brothers, Harold Colclasure and her twin brother, Ed Kathy Colclasure; step-sons, Jeffrey Gwen Stanley and their children, Nicklas and Alex, David Jennifer Stanley and their children, Elecia, Tristan, Conner and Erica; step-daughter, Anne Dean Leonard and their children, Emma and Carsen; several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were, her husband, Ernest Williams; her father, Lloyd; her mother, Minnie; and her sister, Beverly Gregart. Family will greet friends on Thursday from 1 - 3:00p.m. and Friday from 1 - 3:00p.m. and 6 - 8:00p.m. at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., Portage, MI. Services will take place on Saturday at 12:00 noon at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 314 W. Maumee St., Angola, IN, where family will greet friends from 10 - 12:00, 2 hours prior to services. Interment will follow at Circle Hill Cemetery. A Memorial service will then take place on Saturday, October 24th from 2 - 4:00p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, Flora, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Autism Society or the Gilda Radner Ovarian Cancer Society.
