Betty Klepper

It is with great sadness, we share the news of the peaceful passing of Betty, age 88, who transitioned to her heavenly home on January 18, 2025. She was born February 25, 1936, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of the late Garrett and Sinnie (VanderWoude) Gerlofs.

Betty was a graduate of Kalamazoo Christian Schools. She was united in marriage to her best friend, Edward Klepper, on October 5, 1956. She was witty and caring, a dedicated and cherished wife, Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma.

Betty was a faithful Christian and lifelong member of Centerpoint Church. She was active with the Centerpoint Senior Ministries and would always pitch in where she was needed for support. Betty and Ed were socially active with a wide circle of friends, with whom they shared many great memories.

Betty was an avid golfer, enjoying many golf trips around the US with Ed. They were members of several leagues, where she was known for her golf favors that she put together for banquets.

Betty was preceded in passing by her loving husband of 64 years, Ed Klepper; son, Mike Klepper; sister, Dorothy Hoeksema; and brother, Clare Gerlofs.

She leaves behind her daughters, Kathy (David) McGreaham and Peg (Todd) Simonds; daughter-in-law, Roxanne Klepper; grandchildren, Brett (Stephanie) McGreaham, Kaylee (Jared) Kehler, Luke (Abbey Bosco) McGreaham, Jake (Laura) Simonds, Kyle (Danielle) Simonds, Michael (Cheyenne) Klepper, and Eric (Katie) Klepper; great-grandchildren, Mason, Allie, Sawyer, Callie, Dustin, Ellie, and Bennett; sister-in-law, Joan VanderWoude; special nephew Bob (Kelly) Meyer; and many other nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 10-11:00am at Centerpoint Church, 2345 10th St N, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, where a celebration of Betty’s life will begin at 11:00am with Pastor Jeff Porte officiating. A private graveside service will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her late husband.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at Park Village Pines and Centrica Care Navigators for their unwavering support and compassionate care.
