Of Kalamazoo, MI Passed away Wednesday October 14, 2009. Betty was born May 11, 1922, in Shepherd, Michigan, the daughter of Roy and Rosa Thayer Johnson and has been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1989. On September 28, 1940, she was united in marriage to Howard Higgins who preceded her in death on May 14, 2001. Surviving are two daughters, Bev Jerry Burley of Mason, MI and Kim Bill Wright of Kalamazoo; two grandchildren, David Wright and Sarah Wright; also was known as mom and nana to many others. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 16 from 2-3 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. A Graveside Service will be held 3:30 PM Friday at North Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorials in Betty's memory may be directed to Hospice Care of SW Michigan.
