FRAKES, Miss Betty L.
Kalamazoo, MI Died Thursday evening September 6, 2012. Betty was born April 11, 1928 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a daughter of Vaughn and Lillian Johnson Frakes. She had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with Portage Public Schools for many years before retiring. Betty was also a member of the Kalamazoo Free Methodist Church and the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Shirley Phetteplace; a brother-in-law, Richard Phetteplace; and a niece, Ann Buckhout. Betty is survived by nieces and nephews, Kathleen Filipiak of Alpena, MI, Teresa Phetteplace of Kalamazoo, Richard Vaughn of Portland, OR, and Sally Phil Guritz of Kalamazoo; 5 grandnieces and nephews, Todd Julie Walker, Annalise Thompson, Eli Imelda Phetteplace, Shannon Long Darrin , and Justin Michelle Guritz; several other great grand nieces and nephews and cousins. Services will be held 1 o'clock Tuesday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Visitation will be 6-8pm Monday at the chapel. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Kalamazoo Free Methodist Church. www.langelands.com .
