Betty J. Finley
of Kalamazoo Betty went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, December 6, 2011. Betty was born Betty Jane Taylor in Portland, Michigan on December 29, 1925, the third child of Earl and Vina Sutherland Taylor. Betty was a loving wife and mother. She grew up in the thumb of Michigan and graduated from Brown City High School in 1943. She married Clifford Finley on the 8th of December, 1945 and they moved north to Hawks, MI and lived on their farm for 22 years as well as a few other locations in northeastern Michigan. After retirement they moved to Austin, Texas and later to Winter Haven, Florida before moving back to Michigan in 2008. Betty and Cliff had 64 years of life and love together until Cliff passed away in January, 2010. Betty is survived by her two children, Linda Ron Lance of Oshtemo, MI and Jon Nancy Finley of Farmington Hills, MI. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Leonard Clark of Carsonville, MI and by her four grandchildren, Allison Lance, Brandon Christine Lance, Evan Finley, Catherine Finley, great granddaughter, Piper Lance and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jack and sister, Marjorie. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. on Sunday from 2-4 PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 12, 2011, at 11:00 at Texas Corners Bible Church, 7780 S. 8th St., with Pastor David Thompson officiating. Betty will be interred at Fort Custer National Cemetery as the spouse of a WWII veteran. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Texas Corner Bible Church or Oakland Centre, C/O Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
