Betty June De Vries

Betty June De Vries departed this life to meet her Lord and Savior on November 11, 2024, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Mrs. De Vries was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on June 20, 1927, the daughter of Cornelius and Tina (Greendyke) VanderRoest and had been a life-long resident of the community. She was a member of Centerpoint Church and was a Kalamazoo Christian High School graduate of 1945. Betty was united in marriage on December 3, 1947, to Henry Junior De Vries and they were blessed with 75 loving years until his passing in 2023.

Betty is survived by her three children Gregory H. (Susan) De Vries of Portage, Deborah J. (Ronald) Plaisier of Kalamazoo, and Denise J. (Robert) Wilbur of Ada, MI; eight grandchildren Trisha (Nathan) Batts, Nathan G. De Vries, Kristina (Dan) Schrik, Katherine (Jevin) Weyenberg, Elisabeth Wilbur, Sarah (Trevor) Deters, Jessica Holbrook, Victoria (Charlie) Netzel; her step-grandson, Luke Livingston; thirteen great-grandchildren: Ella and Everett Weyenberg, Thomas, Henry, and Caroline Batts, Andrew, Anna, and Oliver Schrik, Willem, Bette, and George Deters, and Jack and Hendrik Holbrook; sister-in-law Helen Van Giessen and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death is her husband Henry Junior De Vries, parents Cornelius and Tina VanderRoest, brothers Neil, Peter, and Kenneth VanderRoest, and sisters Geraldine Ver Sluis and Loretta VanHoe.

Betty will be laid into eternal rest beside Henry at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park at a private family service. Those who wish to make a gift in Betty’s honor may do so to Tree of Life School 2001 Cameron St. Kalamazoo, MI 49001.
