Betty passed away on Monday morning, February 13, 2017 at Stoneridge AFC Home in Bellevue, MI. She was born on December 15, 1930, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late Frank and Julia (Mach) Lietz. Betty was a longtime active member of Climax United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and was active with the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed woodworking, gardening, hunting and fishing. Preceding her in death were her husband: Frank J. Bowman, Sr.; two children: Dennis Perton and Ruthie Gilkison; sister: Ruth Rook; and four brothers: Fred, Earl, Robert and Raymond Lietz. Surviving are four children: Jerry (Joan) Bowman of Climax, Debra Meyers of Climax, Frank (Sue) Bowman of Climax and Laurie (Tim) Mitchell of Nashville; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother: Frank Lietz of Deluth, MN; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Thursday, Feb. 16, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Climax Chapel, 205 E. Maple Street. A service to celebrate Betty's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, Feb. 17, at Climax United Methodist Church, 133 E. Maple Street. Interment will follow in Roof Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Climax United Methodist Church.
