Betty F. Bird

May 26, 1928 — January 30, 2011

BIRD, Betty F.
of Kalamazoo Betty left us peacefully in the early hours of Sunday, January 30, 2011. She was born on May 26, 1928 in Kalamazoo the only child of Frank and Ollie Spruill Holden. Betty was united in marriage with Herbert J. Bird, on October 10, 1959, who preceded her in death on November 26, 2004. Betty worked at various jobs her whole life, particularly Brunswick, and Engineered Packaging during her later years before retirement. She and Herb traveled together to Hawaii, Europe, and on various gambling junkets and enjoyed their second home at Huzzy Lake in Lawton, Michigan. They moved to Florida and lived the last many years, in the warm sunshine. She really embraced being able to put a stick in the ground and having it grow leaves and thrive. They joined St. Andrews Lutheran Church, in Port St. Lucie, Florida. She enjoyed her books, crossword puzzles, listening to the Yankees, hometown boy Derek Jeter and watching TV. She is survived by her two children, Kay Salvaggio, of Richland, Michigan, and David Bird of Dublin, Ohio; three grandchildren, Tracy Stafford, John Salvaggio, and Derek Bird; and three great grandchildren, Dakota and Jacob Stafford, and Nicholas Salvaggio, Graveside services will be at 2:30 PM on Friday, Feb. 4, at Mt.
