August 29, 1929 — January 24, 2011

KONING, Bette L.
Of Kalamazoo Bette went to be with the Lord on January 24, 2011 with her loving family by her side, after a short illness. Bette was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on August 29, 1926, the daughter of Clarence and Laura Hein. She married the love of her life, Ralph Koning on September 11, 1943. Bette had a compassionate and loving personality and graciously cared for her handicapped mother until her death. She had a strong faith in God and attended Parchment Christian Reformed Church with her husband Ralph and children Fred and Kay. She also attended Bible Study Fellowship and was currently active at Calvary Bible Church where she has many friends through the Branches class. Bette and Ralph enjoyed 38 years of marriage, two children, and a loving extended family. They traveled to Europe and across the United States together. They loved their pet dogs and spending time with family and friends playing cards and bowling. In her later years, Bette loved spending time with her granddaughters and great grandchildren as well as trips to Arizona for sun and watching baseball games. She made a lasting impression on many with her quick smile and polite nature. She leaves a legacy of a kind and gentle spirit. She loved listening to others urging them to be kind and forgiving. Bette lived a wonderful life and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children Fred and Sandra Koning, Kay and Gerry Stoneburner; granddaughters, Stacy and Todd Keyser, Nicole and Bret Hawkins; great grandchildren, Sam and Levi Keyser, Brooke and Naomi Hawkins; brother and sister in law, Jerry and Jo Hein; and loving in-laws and nieces and nephews. Bette really enjoyed gospel music get togethers and a funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 o'clock Friday at Faith Chapel Ministries, 7736 West G Ave, with Pastor Tom Koning officiating. A time of fellowship will immediately follow the service. Private interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Calvary Bible Church or Faith Chapel Ministries. Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. www.langelands.com
