Bertha M. Cutshall

Bertha M. Cutshall, age 76, of Plainwell, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024, in Kalamazoo. She was born on March 31, 1948, to George and Liberty (North) Hughes in Fredonia, Kansas. Bertha lived in Emporia, Kansas for most of her life. She loved to play darts in her younger years and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great-granddaughter.

Bertha is survived by her sister, Barbara (Johnny) Hooton of Sterling, CO; two daughters, Libby (John) Horst of Plainwell, MI, Shelly (Jeff) Lutes of Emporia, KS; seven grandchildren, Zane Hughes of Rock Island, IL, Ethan (Shelby) Horst of Plainwell, MI, Tanner Horst of Plainwell, MI, Collin Horst of Chicago, IL, Tasha Lutes, Drake Lutes, and Abby Lutes all of Emporia, KS; one great granddaughter, Eleanor Horst of Plainwell, MI.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Gary Smith, Virgil Hughes, and Delbert Hughes; sister, Bonnieta Tatum; and her son, Robert Cutshall. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
