GREEN, Bertha E.
of Portage Passed away February 3, 2010 at Upjohn Nursing Home. She was born May 27, 1928 in Portage, to the late Homer G. and Cora L. Dustin Leaders. Bertha was united in marriage on April 29, 1947 to Homer D. Green, who preceded her in death in 1986. Bertha was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and a lifelong member, and a Worthy Matron, of Order of the Eastern Star. She also belonged to the Portage Senior Center and was a member of the Senior Choir. She loved to square-dance, sing and play cards. She performed all facets of volunteer work for school children in what ever areas of help was needed. Surviving Bertha are her children, Michael Sherri Green of Kalamazoo, Sandie Brian Clemens of Allegan and Jeff Linda Green of Portage; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren with a 13th blessing expected in April; brother, Homer Leaders of Ft. Myers, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Also preceding Bertha in death was a brother, Jack Leaders. Family will greet friends Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8:00 o'clock at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., where services will also take place Monday, 1:00 o'clock, Pastor Al Dixon, officiating. Burial will follow at Portage Central Cemetery.
