Bertha "Bert" K. Lindsley

Bertha Kathryn Lindsley “Bert” was born June 16,1936, to Stephen and Anna Kovach. She grew up with 10 brothers and sisters on the family farm in Portage, Michigan. She was united in marriage to Ronald W Lindsley on September 13, 1952, and started her own large family. She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald on July 12, 2019, and her son Dominick P. Lindsley on January 23, 2023.

Bertha was a beautician for many years and could always be found cutting someone’s hair at home during the week and on weekends-usually relatives, neighbors, and her children’s friends. She was a long-time member of St Catherine of Siena Church. In her later years, she was part of St. Catherine of Sienas funeral luncheon team and in the choir. She loved doing both. She and Ron owned Central Elevator for 30 years before being sold in 2016.

Bertha passed away peacefully at Northwoods Village surrounded by her family. Bertha had a strong faith in God, which guided her through good times and challenging times throughout her life.

Bertha leaves behind many happy memories including, family meals, holiday celebrations, camping and traveling and the chaos of a big family. She was very loved and will always be missed.

Bertha is survived by her children: Christine O’Dell (Michael Burnett), Susie (Andy) Schulz, Vickie (Tim) Martin, David Lindsley, Ronnie Lindsley, Lisa (Eric) Rood, Tony (Jill) Lindsley, 14 Grandchildren and 18 Great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Rose Maronto and a brother-in-law Robert (Mary) Lindsley. 

A heartfelt Thank You to all the kind and caring staff who helped and cared for Bertha the last two years of her life at North Woods Village and to all the Centrica Care nurses for their compassionate support and care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday January 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, 1150 W. Centre Ave, Portage MI 49024, with Father Joseph Abraham presiding. There will be a visitation from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service. Following the service a luncheon will be held in Marion Hall. Private interment will be at Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South on a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Centrica Care, 7100 Stadium Dr, Kalamazoo, MI 49009.
