SHEPHARD, Mr. Bernard H.
Kalamazoo, MI Died Tuesday morning March 6, 2012. Bernard was born July 12, 1921 in Clay County, Arkansas a son of Ira and Gertie Welker Shephard. During WWII, he served with the U.S. Navy. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of his life and was employed with the Kalamazoo Regional Psychiatric Hospital for 37 years, retiring in 1978. Bernard was also a member of the Milwood United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Joseph Shephard. On October 7, 1939, he was united in marriage to Violet J. Parks Shephard who survives. Also surviving, a daughter, Linda Richard Servis of Kalamazoo; a sister, Alveria Miller of Kalamazoo; a brother, Wilburn Nelly Shephard of Delton, MI; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 10 o'clock Friday at the Milwood United Methodist Church, 3919 Portage Rd. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Memorials may be directed to the Milwood United Methodist Church Music Department or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan
