DELGER, Bennie Plainwell formerly of Kalamazoo Our Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather went to heaven to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, November 18, 2006. Bennie was born on June 20, 1926 in Kalamazoo to Lambert and Elizabeth Delger. He was married to Dorothy VanderMeer on March 23, 1945 at the First Christian Reformed Church and enjoyed 61 years of marriage. Bennie served in the US Navy during WW II and worked 42 years at James River Corporation now known as Georgia Pacific. Bennie had a strong faith in the Lord and was an active member of Westwood Christian Reformed Church for many years where he served as an Elder, Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He also spent many summers doing mission work among the migrant workers. Bennie enjoyed fishing, reading, blueberry farming, spending a lot of time with his family and friends and most of all serving his Savior. Bennie was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter-in-law, Louise Delger. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; four children and their spouses, Joan and Joe Odehnal of Kalamazoo, Richard Delger of LeHigh Acres, FL, Bonnie and Duane Harback of Three Rivers and Sue and Brian Pennings of Plainwell; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 sister and 2 brothers and their spouses, Jennie and John Clark, Garret and Betty Delger and John and Marjorie Delger; many nieces and nephews. Services celebrating Bennie?s life will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Westwood Christian Reformed Church, 620 Northampton, with Rev. William Huyser officiating. A private family interment will be held at Grand Prairie Cemetery preceding the service. Family and friends will gather for visitation on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Memorials may be directed to the Borgess Hospice, American Parkinson Disease Association or the Alzheimer?s Association.
