Of Kalamazoo Beatriz Eva Suarez was born June 11, 1934, in Rosario, Argentina, the daughter of Manuel and Eva Gardiol Kahl; and passed away June 5, 2011, in Kalamazoo. Beatriz and Ernesto met in August, 1950 and were united in marriage on August 1, 1958. She was a longtime Kalamazoo area resident who was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Throughout the years she was active with many church activities, as well as with the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs in Atlanta, GA, where she served as President. But the most important part of her life was caring for her family. Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Dr. Ernesto Suarez; her five daughters, Beatriz Suarez of Jasper, GA, Maria Rus Moor of Norcross, GA, Cristina Suarez-Ross of Huntington, WV, Gabriela Dean Suarez-Starfeldt of Kalamazoo and AnneMarie Jon Suarez-Davis of Portage; ten grandchildren, Michael Luis Suarez, Maria Luisa Suarez, Parker Suarez, Miller Moor, Ernesto Moor, Elijah Suarez-Ross, Zaria Starfeldt, Koa Suarez, Hayden Davis and Miles Davis. Preceding Beatriz in death were her parents; a brother, Edgardo Kahl and an infant son, Luis Suarez. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, June 10th at St. Ambrose Catholic Church 1628 East G Ave with Father James O'Leary, Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Pichulina Fund. The Suarez family established the fund to honor Borgess staff members who so lovingly cared for Beatriz during her illness.
