Formerly Mission, Texas Passed away February 1, 2010 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. Barbara was born April 30 1928, in Kalamazoo, to Robert and Dorothy Stohrer Schell. She taught school in Kalamazoo, worked at James River in Parchment. In November 19, 1949 she married Forrest Root. From this union they had one daughter, Toni Ann. They enjoyed several winters after their retirement in Mission, Texas, moving there permanently in 2001. Barbara and Forrest dealt in antiques for many years. Barbara weaved beautiful baskets. Other hobbies she enjoyed includes cross stitching and crocheting. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband in 2008; her daughter in 1990; oldest granddaughter, Echol "Echo", in 1992; her sister Wanda Green in 2009 and her parents. She is survived by grandchildren, Nikki and Troy Root; 3 great grandchildren of Kalamazoo; brother-in-law, Harold Green in Mission, Tx.; sisters-in-law, Mable Root, Janice Frank Lehrke, and Leatha Root; an aunt, Claira Rouse; cousin, Nancy Monty Miller of Kalamazoo; an uncle, Fred McLeod; nephews, Donald Green of Kalamazoo, Brian Green of Wisconsin and Robert Green of Wyoming; and many other nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or services.
