HENSON, Barbara J. Galesburg Passed away Thursday, January 4, 2007. She was born May 23, 1920 in Kalamazoo County, the daughter of Robert J. and Carmen Vernice Trisket Blake and was a lifelong resident of Galesburg. Barbara graduated from the Galesburg High School in 1937, received her BA from Albion College in 1941 and earned her Masters Degree from Western Michigan University in 1964. Following her schooling, she taught in the Comstock Public School system for 20 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Galesburg United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer, was a Sunday School teacher, and was an active member of the Genevieve Circle, the WSCS and the Epworth League. Barbara also served as a board member of the Comstock Community Center and served as a 4-H leader. She loved gardening, and sold produce she had raised, earning her the name ?Tomato Lady?. On June 6, 1943, she married William Ralph Henson, who survives. Also surviving are her daughters, Jeanne Vern Wilson and Joyce Henson all of Galesburg; her brother, Derald Blake of Galesburg ; nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday in the Galesburg United Methodist Church, 111 W. Battle Creek St. with Rev. John Moore officiating. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek St. on Sunday from 2-5 PM. Memorials may be given to the Galesburg United Methodist Church.
