Formerly of Methuen, MA Passed away Sunday morning, October 11, 2009. Barbara was born August 14, 1917 in Lawrence, MA the daughter of Arthur and Mary Sargent Libbey and lived in Methuen, MA for most of her life. She was a graduate of E.F. Searles High School and McIntosh School of Business. Barbara worked in the office of A.B. Sutherland, Treat Hardware and was a part time model for Lord and Taylor. Prior to her retirement she was employed for 37 years with Western Electric. Barbara was a longstanding member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Lawrence, MA; belonged to the Methuen Senior Center, the Rainbow Dance Club, Pioneers, and the senior bowling league at Park Lanes. On May 31, 1941 she was united in marriage to William Healey who preceded her in death in 1966. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Hill; and her niece, Susan Provost. Surviving are 2 daughters, Joyce Richard Kurtz of Portage, MI, Marcia Healey of Ann Arbor, MI; 3 grandchildren, William Angela Kurtz, Jesse Laorenza, Caroline Buentello; 6 great-grandchildren, Caylee, Rob, Dominic, Sophie, Garrett, and Brennan. Friends may meet the family at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Thursday from 2-3pm followed by funeral services at 3:00 o'clock with Mother Beth McLaren officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen, MA. Memorials may be directed to the Methuen, MA Senior Center, or a community charity of your choice. www.langelands.com
