BLOWERS, Barbara Kalamazoo Passed away Thursday, April 12, 2007. She was born January 8, 1925 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Paul and Myrtle Watson Blanchard and was a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo. On April 14, 1944 she married John Blowers, who preceded her in death on July 10, 1989. She was also preceded by her parents and a sister, Marilyn Harter. Barbara is survived by her 4 sons and their wives, Mike Barb Blowers, John Rosie Blowers, Doug Nancy Blowers and David Pam Blowers; 9 grandchildren, Gretchen Ralph Smith, Jason Blowers, Chelsea Scott Herriman, Paul Angie Blowers, Ryan, Tony, Bryan, Kelli and Natalie Blowers; 5 great grandchildren, Tyler and Melissa Smith, Gabrielle and Aurora Herriman and Khloe Blowers; a brother, Jack Blanchard, Lillian, AL. She was the pumpkin pie baked to perfection, clothes on the line soaking up sun, the smell of fresh brewed coffee, a walk in fresh air, no matter the season, a homemade birthday cake. She was fluffed pillows on a newly-made bed, a cookie tin that was never empty, knick knacks on a kitchen windowsill, bread and butter pickles made from scratch. She worried you safe. She was the lace doily beneath a centerpiece, strawberry shortcake when the berries were best, Big Band music and love songs, Thanksgiving turkey and gravy without lumps. She was a fridge door decorated with grandchildren?s pictures, banana bread delivered to your door, the birthday card you always received, a reader of stories to grandsons and granddaughters. She was the daffodil that bloomed right on time. Nothing made her more proud than her family. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Interment will follow beside her husband.
