Barbara Ruth Armitage

Barbara Ruth Armitage, 74 of Kalamazoo, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 24, 2023, with her loving husband by her side. She was born on November 21, 1948, in Kalamazoo to Eugene and Beverly (Price) Harris.

Barb attended Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music where she learned her love of singing. She then went to earn a bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University. She met the love of her life, David Armitage and they were married on September 19, 1987, and were blessed to share over 35 years together.

Barb was a child of God and she served Him and her faith as the Ladies Praise director at Oakwood Bible Church for 32 years. She was the State Treasurer for the Michigan Family Support Council where she advocated for happy and healthy homes for children. Barb was also a Certified Public Accountant and spent over thirty years working in accounting and preparing taxes, she most recently spent twelve years working for Douglas S Eplee CPA PLLC.

Barb is survived by her adoring husband David Armitage; sisters Jeanie Thomas and Debbie Dyben; brothers E. George Harris, Jr. and David Harris; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters Julie Carr and Beverly Harris.

A memorial service will be held for Barb at Oakwood Bible Church on August 11, 2023, at 11:00. Friends are invited to join the family for lunch following the service at church.
