MRS. AUDREY N. Audrey N. Vander Hoek Terlaak went home to be with her Lord on February 27, 2014. Audrey was born in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Christian and Renetta Nightingale Vander Hoek. She was a graduate from Kalamazoo Central and Parsons Business College and lived in Kalamazoo most of her life. Audrey had been employed by Farrell Folz Paulson Bennett and Palmer as a legal secretary, and by the Alfred Connable Office. On October 22, 1960, she married Henry J. Terlaak. Audrey was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry J. Terlaak; parents, Christian and Renetta Vander Hoek; sister and brother-in-law, Marjory and Dale Smallwood, and step-daughter Petra Terlaak Gilchrist. She is survived by step-son Michael Linda Gilchrist, of Commerce Twp., MI; three step-grandchildren, Fabienne Les Hoban of Wixom, MI, Christian Katherine Gilchrist of Holt, MI, and Jason Gilchrist of Chicago, IL; six step-great-grandchildren, Zacharie, Noah, Jonas, Jack, David "Max" and Grant; and also dear and special family: Craig Janet Schreuder, Caryn Braasch, Cathy Huff and Coleen Peter Beeke. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 3rd from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street; where a Service to Celebrate her life will begin at 11:00 AM Monday with Pastor Dar VanderWal officiating. A private interment will be held in Grand Prairie Cemetery. Memorials in Audrey's memory may be directed to Centerpoint Church or a charity of your choice.
