YAHR, Arthur A. Of Portage, Michigan Died November 14, 2008 at his residence. Arthur was born May 24, 1914 in Spencer, MI, the son of Edward and Bessie Turnipseed Yahr and had lived in the Kalamazoo/Portage area for the past 60 years. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an Operating Engineer for H.H. Shinville Excavating Company. Arthur was a member of the Operating Engineers Union #324, the Eagles and Moose Clubs and was an avid bowler, golfer, fisherman, hunter and enjoyed gardening. Arthur was preceded in death by a daughter Sandra Newville and by 4 brothers and 4 sisters. On March 15, 1958, he was married to Nellie Bunschoten, who survives. Also surviving are a son Gordon Mary Lou Yahr of Lady Lake, FL; a daughter Katherine David Dagley of Lapeer, MI; 9 grandchildren; several great and great great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 1:00 o'clock on Thursday, November 20 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre with the Rev. James Dyke officiating. Interment in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Friends may meet the family beginning at 11:00 Thursday at the funeral home. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Arthur's memory be made to the American Cancer Society, the Parkinson's Foundation of MI or the charity of your choice.
