STODDART, Mr. Arthur W.J.
Kalamazoo, MI Died Friday evening September 6, 2013 at his residence. Arthur was born March 27, 1934 in Owaka, New Zealand a son of John and Jessie Fiveash Stoddart. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1967 and was employed with Western Michigan University for 29 years, retiring in 1996. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Jessie. On December 7, 1963, he was united in marriage to Mary L. Edwards Stoddart who survives. Also surviving, 4 children, Natalie Edward Gardner of San Jose, CA, Michael LaShaunn Stoddart of Atlanta, GA, and Celia Byron Foster and Wendy Eric Langrock all of Ann Arbor, MI; 9 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Colin Noeline Stoddart, Henry Stoddart, John Maree Stoddart all of New Zealand; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He loved his gardens, especially his lakeside property, and his mathematics. Over the years in the USA, he has kept regular contact with family and events in New Zealand. A farewell gathering will be held at the family residence Saturday September 14 any time between 10am and noon. Private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Public Broadcasting Service.
