Benton Harbor, MI Died Thursday evening November 22, 2012. Arthur was born December 22, 1928 in North Brunswick, New Jersey a son of Joseph and Lottie Denton Smetts. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident for 3 years coming from Benton Harbor. Arthur was employed with the Whirlpool Corporation for 35 years before retiring. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois E. Smetts in 1987; 2 sons, Arthur Smetts, Jr. and Kenneth Smetts; a brother, Joseph Smetts; and a sister, Dorothy Zimmerman. Arthur is survived by 3 children, Sharon Bob Musselman of Scotts, David Smetts of Palm Desert, CA, and Carol Smetts of Ocala, FL; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Private services and burial will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army.
