SKIVER, Arthur J. "Art"
Kalamazoo
Passed away Friday, September 9, 2016 at the age of 67. He was born July 26, 1949, in Belding, MI to the late Kenneth and Marian (Oler) Skiver. He was one of five siblings. He was united in marriage to Trudy Keim on June 10, 2005. Art served in the U.S. Army from 1969 until honorably discharged in 1971. In his younger years Art played volleyball, soft ball and was on a pool league. In recent years he enjoyed attending baseball games as well as watching Detroit Tigers baseball on TV along with football and hockey, especially watching his son play hockey. He enjoyed watching his grandsons play sports also. He had a love/hate relationship with euchre and his euchre family will definitely miss him. He loved to sit on his deck, listen to music and watch for the deer to come out of the woods in the evening. He worked in the lumber business in his early years and most recently was a helpdesk supervisor. He enjoyed traveling to Traverse City and to Tennessee where he went zip lining in the mountains and had the time of his life! Art
had a great sense of humor and whenever you asked him a question, you never knew if his answer was true or if he was joking with you. He had a knack for always making you laugh. He had a huge heart and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. Art is survived by his wife, Trudy Skiver; son, Andy (Colleen) Skiver; step-children, Todd (Dustin) Lucas, Robert (Jessica) Lucas and Jonathan (Amanda) Lucas; 4 grandchildren, Logan, Jackson, Carter and Ella; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 17th, 12:00pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Art's name may be directed to the American Cancer Society or to the Kalamazoo Animal Rescue.
