Passed away unexpectedly on June 11, 2010 at the Laurels of Galesburg. Arthur was born June 12, 1922 in Moore Park, MI, a son of Vern and Zola Grush Romig Hayes. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Prior to his retirement, Arthur was employed for 35 years as a Locomotive Engineer for Conrail. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert and Merle Romig and by a sister, Clarabelle. On October 29, 1947, he was married to Doris Rupert, who survives. Also surviving are 3 sons, Paul Barb Romig of Three Rivers, Gerald Romig of Portage and Terry Romig and significant other Brenda of Portage; 7 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Mildred Brown of Grand Rapids, Betty Sparling of Grand Blanc, Ruth Larry Weisner of South Bend, IN and Barbara Fahndrick of Battle Creek; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:00 o'clock on Tuesday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. with the Rev. James Dyke officiating. Interment with military honors in Schoolcraft Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday beginning at 10 am at the funeral home.
