Arthur Snapper PhD Age 72 Of Kalamazoo Dr. Arthur Snapper was born in Milwaukee, WI on December 8, 1934, and lived in White Fish Bay, Wisconsin throughout his childhood. He received a BA at Harvard University in 1956, an MA and Ph.D. in Behavioral Psychology at Columbia University in New York in 1957 and 1962, respectively. He was employed as a Research Psychopharmacologist at Schering Corporation, 1959-1963, VA Research Psychologist in 1963-1967, Adjunct Associate Professor at Queens College of the City University of New York in 1969-1971, Associate Chief of Staff at the Montrose, NY Veterans Administration, 1968-1971, recipient of a NIMH grant, 1965-72 , Associate Professor at Western Michigan University, 1972-1977, recipient of NIMH Career Research Scientist Award, 1972-1977, co-founder of the Association for Behavior Analysis, 1974, former Fellow of the American Psychological Association, Professor at Western Michigan University, 1977-1982, founder and CEO of State Systems, Inc. computer software, interfacing and consulting, 1973-1995. He retired in 1995, allowing him the freedom to pursue his other interests ? general science, astronomy, history, and computers. Retirement allowed him to enjoy his family, friends and pets. He was elected to the Garage Board of the Lake Point Tower Condominium Association where he held the position of secretary. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Vivian, and his two sons, Arthur, Jr., and Gary, his daughter-in-law, Nicole Boxer and Arthur Jr.?s significant other, Lori Budnik, all of whom live in Michigan. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Gary Heymann, of Tucson, AZ, his niece, Judy Kazan, and his nephew, David Heymann and their families. The family would like to thank the many friends who visited and the compassionate hospice team at Rose Arbor in Kalamazoo. The family will receive friends Friday, March 16, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street 343-1508 from 5p.m-8p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
