Went to be with his Lord Saturday evening, May 7, 2016 at his home. Arthur was born January 7, 1933 in Kalamazoo the son of Arthur Sr. and Alethabelle (Luedecking) Parker. He was a 1951 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School and attended Western Michigan University. Art was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Western Michigan University Printing Services. He was a long time member of Northeastern Baptist Church. He enjoyed bowling, and in his younger years was a pin setter. He had several paper routes that were delivered by bicycle. Art enjoyed crafts, photography and traveling. On April 27, 1957 he was united in marriage to his loving wife of nearly 60 years, the former Beverly Johnson, who survives. Also surviving are his sons, Scott (Trish) Parker, Thomas (Kathy) Parker; 4 grandchildren, Travis (Sandy) Parker, Ashley (Ryan) Witt, Courtney (Craig) Antkoviak, Tyler (Katelynn) Parker; 4 great-grandchildren, Emry, Remy, Bentley, and Lincoln; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Jean DenRuyter. A service to celebrate Art's life will be held at 11:00am Thursday, May 12 at Northeastern Baptist Church, 6536 East G Ave, with Dr. George Coon officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Friends may meet with the family Wednesday, May 11 from 5-7pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick and on Thursday from 10-11:00 at the church prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to Northeastern Baptist Church, or Great Lakes Hospice.
