ROBINSON, Mrs. Arlene W. Of Kalamazoo, Michigan Arlene passed away Friday afternoon, November 21, 2008 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence after a short illness. She was born October 15, 1918 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Neal and Sophie Fryling Denaway. She was a lifelong resident of this area and a lifelong member of the Kalamazoo First United Methodist Church. Prior to her retirement she was a nurse at Bronson Methodist Hospital for many years, Kalamazoo County Health Department for 10 years and was a social worker at Kalamazoo County Juvenile Court for 10 years. Her faith led her in life and influenced daily decisions and inspired her in times of crisis. With her positive attitude, she found ways to comfort those she loved. Arlene asked very little of others, always believing in the goodness of those she knew. She had a generous spirit. A wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she will be missed more than the family can express. A life they were so blessed to share. In her free time, Arlene enjoyed reading, crocheting, and was an avid golfer. She also enjoyed many airsteam trailering years of travel. On December 31, 1939, she was united in marriage to Richard W. Robinson, who preceded her in death on November 19, 1997. She was also preceded by a sister, Jeannette Denaway. Surviving are her son, Richard Nancy Robinson of Grand Rapids; daughter, Suzanne King White of Kalamazoo; 4 grandchildren, Kristine Jon Nisper, Ronald Robinson, Shawn Tyler and Jennifer Richard Kroll; 5 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Michael, Elana, and Emily Nisper, and Jacob Tyler; and 2 expecting great-granddaughters, Ava and Isabelle Kroll. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street, with Rev. Dr. Douglas Vernon officiating. Private inurnment will be held at Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Rose Arbor Hospice Residence.
