Arland C Heistand

HEISTAND, Arland C. Kalamazoo Passed away Sunday evening, March 11, 2007 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. Arland was born October 26, 1924, a son of Robert and Ruth Heistand. During World War II, he served in the US Army and fought in the European Theater. Arland was a member of American Legion Post 134 and Red Arrow VFW Post 1527 He retired in 1981 and began to enjoy his life long love of fishing. He is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Dorothy; 2 children and their spouses, Bonnie & Keith Abbott of Gobles and Arland & Gayla Heistand of Union; 3 grandchildren, John Tucker, Jessica Heistand and Beth Heistand; 3 step-grandchildren, Don Abbott, Dan Abbott and Bethany Campbell; 1 great-granddaughter, Maile Tucker; 6 step-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Robert Heistand, Jr., several nieces and nephews. Friends and family will gather for visitation on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., where services will be held 1:00 Thursday afternoon, with Pastor Jim Dyke, officiating. Interment in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery will follow services. Memorials should be directed to Rose Arbor Hospice Residence.
