Kalamazoo, MI Died Friday morning October 9, 2009. Ardath was born December 13, 1915 in Rosebush, Michigan, the daughter of Lemon and Gladys Terry Baker. She was an Eastern Michigan University graduate in music. Ardath had been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1948 and taught at Comstock High School previous to her marriage. She was also a member of the Milwood United Methodist and Westwood United Methodist Churches. She enjoyed music and played piano and organ. She also loved to play bridge and was a prolific knitter who over the years knit thousands of newborn caps for Kalamazoo Hospitals. Ardath was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Howard E. Montague in 1986. She is survived by 2 children, Nelz Nellie Montague of Shelbyville, MI and Arleigh Smyrnios of Kalamazoo; 4 grandsons, Brent Rose Montague, Brady Cheryl Montague, Troy Danielle Smyrnios and Tadd Jessica Smyrnios; and 6 great-grandchildren. Private graveside services will be held in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes.
